Mercedes-Benz has launched the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e in India at ₹3.35 crore ex-showroom. It is the first plug-in hybrid Maybach offered in the country and only 30 units are available in the first batch.

Petrol engine plus electric motor

The S 580e uses a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine together with an electric motor. Combined output is about 585 hp and 750 Nm, with all-wheel drive helping put the power down smoothly.

The battery allows the car to drive up to 98 km on electric power under ideal test conditions. This means short city trips can be completed without using the petrol engine if the battery is charged regularly.

Charging and everyday use

The plug-in hybrid system can be charged externally, and the car also supports DC fast charging. That makes it more flexible than a normal hybrid, especially for owners who can charge at home or at the office.

Rear-seat luxury remains the focus

The Maybach S-Class is built mainly around rear-seat comfort. It gets executive rear seats, a long centre console, premium materials, advanced climate control and a cabin designed for owners who may spend more time in the back than behind the wheel.

The plug-in hybrid system adds another advantage in city traffic because the car can move quietly on electric power at low speeds.

Who is it for?

This is not a mass-market electrified car. It is aimed at buyers who want flagship limousine comfort while also getting the flexibility of electric driving for shorter trips. The limited allocation also makes it one of the more exclusive luxury-car launches of 2026.
