About Nissan
Innovation That Excites
Nissan, a global Japanese automotive heavyweight, entered the Indian market in 2005. Known for its rich heritage of sports cars (GT-R) and rugged SUVs (Patrol), the brand’s Indian operations are guided by the philosophy of
"Do what others don't dare." Today, Nissan sees India not just as a market but as a global powerhouse, serving as a primary export hub for its "Made in India" vehicles to over 100 countries.
The "Arc" Strategy (2026)
Nissan is currently executing its mid-term business plan,
"The Arc." This strategy positions India as a key pillar for global growth, alongside the UK. As part of this plan, Nissan has committed to launching three new models in India by 2026 and tripling its sales volume. The strategy also emphasizes strengthening the Renault-Nissan alliance, ensuring cost-effective manufacturing at their joint facility in
Oragadam, Chennai.
Product Portfolio
Nissan’s 2026 lineup is designed to cater to the high-growth SUV segments:
- Magnite: The game-changer for Nissan in India. This compact SUV is the brand's volume driver, celebrated for its bold design and value. The 2026 range includes the "EZ-Shift" AMT and a new Kuro edition.
- X-Trail: The premium flagship. Recently reintroduced to India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route, the X-Trail features mild-hybrid technology and a sophisticated 3-cylinder variable compression turbo engine.
- Upcoming C-SUVs: Under "The Arc," Nissan is preparing to launch two new locally manufactured SUVs (including a 5-seater and a 7-seater) built on the localized CMF-B platform to rival the Creta and Safari segments.
Global Export Hub
One of Nissan India’s greatest achievements is its export operations. The Oragadam plant is the global mother plant for the Magnite, exporting it to markets like South Africa, Nepal, and Bhutan. This "Make in India, Make for the World" approach ensures that Nissan remains a profitable and strategic entity in the country's automotive landscape.
