About Tesla
Accelerating the World's Transition
Founded in 2003, Tesla proved that electric vehicles can be better, quicker, and more fun to drive than gasoline cars. Today, led by Elon Musk, the company builds not only all-electric vehicles but also infinitely scalable clean energy generation and storage products. In India, Tesla represents the pinnacle of the "Software Defined Vehicle," where the car improves over time via Over-the-Air (OTA) updates.
Tesla in India: The Journey Begins
Tesla officially marked its entry into the Indian market in July 2025. The brand has established a robust physical presence with its headquarters and India's first fully integrated
Tesla Centre in Gurugram (Orchid Business Park). This facility, along with premium Experience Centers in
Mumbai (BKC) and
New Delhi (Aerocity), offers customers a seamless direct-to-consumer buying experience, bypassing traditional dealerships.
Current Lineup (2026)
Tesla’s product strategy in India is focused on its global best-sellers:
- Model Y: The brand's debut vehicle in India. This mid-size electric SUV is the world's best-selling car, offering a range of over 500 km, a panoramic glass roof, and a minimalist interior centered around a 15-inch touchscreen. It is currently available with attractive "Switch and Save" exchange benefits for petrol/diesel car owners.
- Upcoming Models: Following the Model Y, Tesla is expected to expand its portfolio with the Model 3 sedan and the flagship Model X and Model S, targeting different segments of the luxury EV market later in 2026.
Technology and Infrastructure
Owning a Tesla is about the ecosystem. The brand is rapidly deploying its legendary
Supercharger Network across key Indian highways and cities, allowing owners to charge up to 275 km in just 15 minutes. Inside the car, features like "Autopilot" (advanced driver assistance) and "Sentry Mode" provide unmatched safety and security.
Future Manufacturing
Tesla is actively exploring local manufacturing to support the "Make in India" initiative. With the new Gurugram facility signaling a long-term commitment, the company is in advanced stages of setting up a potential "Gigafactory" in India, which would serve as an export hub for right-hand-drive markets globally.
